Three people died and three others were injured in separate incidents in Makwanpur on Friday, according to police.
In the first incident, 72-year-old Janakimaya Neupane died after being struck by a mini-truck at Chundanda in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-17.
Police said the mini truck (Ma. Pra. 03-002 Kha 4824) had earlier collided with a motorcycle at Salak Park along the Kantirajpath road before hitting the pedestrian about 500 metres from the initial crash site.
The motorcycle rider, 26-year-old Sagar Chaulagain of Hetauda-13, and pillion rider 25-year-old Narayan Prasad Dhungana sustained injuries. Both were treated at Model Hospital, Hetauda, and later discharged.
Neupane, who suffered serious injuries, was referred to Kathmandu for further treatment but died upon arrival at BNB Hospital.
Police arrested the mini-truck driver, 25-year-old Pawan Bik of Kolhabi Municipality-4, Bara, for further investigation.
In a separate incident, the body of around 50-year-old Shyam Bahadur Syangtan of Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-1 was found lodged against a rock in the Simat stream along the boundary of Bakaiya-11 and Makwanpurgadhi-1.
Police said preliminary findings indicate that Syangtan was swept away by the stream while returning home from Bakaiya.
Meanwhile, five-year-old Pema Syangbo of Manahari Rural Municipality-9 died while undergoing treatment in Bharatpur after sustaining injuries in a fall from the staircase of his home.
Police said investigations into the incidents are continuing.
