Three held for gang-raping teenage girl

A 14-year girl was allegedly gang-raped in Madan Deupur Municipality in Kavre.

Police said that a group of four persons raped the girl of the municipality on the banks of the Indrawati River on March 17. Police arrested three of the accused the same night while one is still at large.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Giri at District Police Office, Kavre, said those arrested were Puskar Rai, 24, Prakash Danuwar, 21, and Ram Kumar Rai, 21, of Madan Deupur Municipality.

DSP Giri added that one of the accused was absconding and the police were searching for him. Police said Danuwar and Rai were tipper drivers while Ram Kumar was the driver help at a  local crusher industry.

According to police, the accused had raped the girl in a truck. The family of the victim had filed  FIR on the next day of the incident at the District Police Office.

Police said the accused were arrested from the industry on March 18. The victim’s health check-up was carried out on the same day and further investigation into the incident is under way, said police.
