KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 12

Nepal Police have arrested three people in connection with smuggling 960 grams of gold via Tribhuvan International Airport.

Babulal Dong of Kavre district, who had flown to Kathmandu from Dubai yesterdayvia Himalayan Airlines was arrested from outside the airport.

Dong had smuggled the powdered form of gold concealing it inside his rectum by wrapping them inside multiple layers of plastic.

Following Dong's arrest, police personnel from Kathmandu Police Range today arrested two more persons, who were supposed to manage the gold inside the country.

Police sources said that Dong was a mere carrier of the gold, as the actual owner was still at large.

Gold traffickers in the country often pay some money to foreign employee returnees to smuggle the precious yellow metal inside the country.
