Three held for stealing 2 kg gold

KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons for allegedly involvement in stealing two kg gold ornaments from Laxmi Jewellery Shop in New road of KMC-22 on November 27.

The detainees have been identified as Dil Bahadur Pun (20) Ruma-3 of Myagdi district, Umesh Tamang (23) of Mahalaxmi in Nuwakot district and Santosh Bailkoti (22) of Dhawa-7 in Gorkha district.

A team of police deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division had arrested them from Gongabu of KMC-29 on Wednesday.

However, when a group of 10 to 12 people had tried to attack them to free the arrestees, police had opened a fire in retaliation, which injured Amrit Bailkoti (22) of Dhawa-6 of Gorkha district.

Bailkoti is receiving treatment at Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvwan University Teaching Hospital.

Next suspect held from Pokhara

Meanwhile, another suspect of the case was arrested from Pokhara with the allegedly stolen items on Wednesday.

Chiranjivi Pun (23) from Ruma-3 of Myagdi district was held with 93 tola gold, 57 tola silver and a laptop from Prithvi Chok of Pokhara yesterday.
