Itahari, October 26:

It was a tense week for Muslims of Sunsari’s Khanar, where they number over 1000, after a brawl over the alleged corruption in the construction of a mosque there. Three were injured in the brawl.

The dispute cropped up after allegations of corruption in the construction of the mosque in Khanar 5 and tug-of-war between two groups. The dispute was so bitter that it turned into a brawl.

Sub-inspector Badri Dahal at the Khanar police post said Muslims have fought four times in a week over the issue of leadership and mosque construction. Ward No 5 is tense as a result of the brawl, he said.
