Three killed in Ramechhap accident

Three persons lost their lives when a jeep met with an accident at Gothgaun of Ramechhap Municipality-1 yesterday evening. The deceased have been identified as Lalimaya Karki, 60, her son Durga Bahadur, 40, and jeep driver Hem Bahadur Khatri, 28.

According to District Police Office, Ramechhap, Lalimaya and Durga Bahadur died on the spot while Khatri breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Kavre-based Dhulikhel Hospital. Ramechhap Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Sharma said the jeep en route to Gothgaun from the district headquarters had fallen 400 metres below the road.

Eight persons were injured in the incident. Of them, some are receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital and others at Kathmandu-based military hospital. Of the injured, condition of four is said to be critical. “The exact cause of the accident has yet to be ascertained,” said Inspector Sekh Adalat.

Meanwhile, 23 passengers were injured when a bus met with an accident at Narighat of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-2, Tanahun, along the Prithvi Highway today. The bus heading for Narayangadh from Besisahar had fallen 15 metres down the road when it tried to overtake another vehicle.
