Search continues for Bhaktapur trekkers swept away in Bering Khola
RASUWA, OCTOBER 5
Four trekkers from Bhaktapur have gone missing after being swept away by floods in Bering Khola at Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-4, Rasuwa, on Saturday while heading toward Langtang.
According to the District Police Office, Rasuwa, the missing have been identified as 25-year-old Sanskriti Shrestha, 25-year-old Kisan Shrestha, 26-year-old Sanita (Sangita) Shrestha-all from Suryabinayak Municipality-4-and 23-year-old Ravi Shrestha from Bhaktapur Municipality-10.
Officials confirmed that three of the missing-Sanskriti, Kisan, and Sanita-belong to the same family originally from Ramechhap who had settled in Dadhikot, Bhaktapur.
A total of 16 individuals from Bhaktapur had traveled to Langtang for trekking on Friday. The group was caught in flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall along the route.
Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi said security personnel from Nepal Police and the Nepali Army have been mobilized, with assistance requested from Nuwakot police, to search for the missing trekkers along the border areas.
