Thundershower, windstorm forecast

Kathmandu, May 11

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted thunderstorm, wind storm and rainstorm in many places of the country for a couple of days.

According to an MFD bulletin released today, some parts of the country are likely to experience adverse weather conditions associated with the pre-monsoon period tomorrow.

Pre-monsoon in Nepal marks the transition between summer and monsoon.

Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning are likely to occur in many places of western, central and eastern regions on Monday.

Similarly, overcast conditions are expected to prevail across the country.

Cumulonimbus clouds are responsible for thunderstorm, wind storm and hailstorm.

These clouds are formed in the afternoon or evening when the atmosphere is highly unstable because of high temperatures prevailing at the lower levels, MFD said.

Twenty-eight persons were killed and hundreds injured due to a tornado that hit some rural municipalities of Bara and Parsa districts on March 30.
