Tibetans are misguided: China

Kathmandu, April 2:

The Chinese embassy in Kathmandu today said that Tibetans living in Nepal are being misguided by the Dalai Lama’s clique’s fabricated lies and separatist forces for Tibet Independence who are accusing the Chinese government of repressing and killing Tibetans.

Organising a press meet on ‘Lhasa Serious Criminal Act’, Chinese envoy Zheng Xianglin said, “Their (Tibetans living in Nepal) feeling are understandable because they do not know the truth. After they realise the truth, they will show resentment towards them because violence in Lhasa has hurt so many people.”

Xianglin blamed anti-China forces of taking up the Tibetan issue to try and sabotage the friendly relations between China and Nepal. When asked to name the foreign forces, Xianglin said: “I do not need to name them. It’s clear.”

He appreciated Nepal Police’s effort to prevent the protestors from swarming into the Chinese embassy at Hattisar and said: “We hope that the government of Nepal will take severe measures to prevent these political organisations from organising and implementing illegal political activities.”

“There were also criminal acts of violence involving beating those Tibetans who held different propositions with the separatist forces for ‘Tibet Independence’,” he said. “They have set up an office here and the government here should take some measures to restrict their activities,” he said. He also flayed the Western media of deceiving readers and viewers and losing the news agencies’ ethics of upholding objectiveness.

“Some of them published edited pictures, described ambulances as police cars and termed rescue as capture. One of them even described the police act of preventing people from intruding the Chinese embassy here as Chinese police capturing protestors,” he said

“Many people believe that Dalai Lama pursues peace and non-violence and has renounced his position on Tibet Independence. His attempt to clear himself of the link with the Lhasa incident is futile and he does not deserve to be a Buddhist monk at all,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police today detained 71 Tibetan refugees when they were taking out a demonstration towards the Chinese Embassy.
