Tiger attacks motorcycle riders in Kailali, carries pillion rider away

DHANGADHI: A motorcycle rider was injured while the pillion rider was carried away by a Royal Bengal Tiger that attacked them in Lamkichuha Municipality of Kailali district, on Friday night.

The motorcycle rider, a youth of Lamkichuha-4, was injured in the attack while the pillion rider, his mother, Nandakala Thapa (50) was taken away by the tiger inhabiting Bardiya National Park.

The tiger pounced upon the motorcycle riders near Kunwabha, six kilometres west of Amreni Post in the national park, at around 8:00 pm, police informed. The incident occurred while the motorcycle riders were returning home from somewhere, police said.

The injured youth is said to be in normal condition while the body of his mother is yet to be found, police informed.

Meanwhile, a team of staff deployed from the national park and a team from the Nepali Army have jointly launched a search operation to find the missing woman.
