Tiger found dead in Chitwan National Park

RATNANAGAR: A tiger was found dead in water at Jarnelighat on the bank of the Rapti River in Chitwan National Park on Friday.

The male Royal Bengal tiger of around 13 years old was found with injuries all over the body and is suspected to have died in an attack by another tiger in the park, according to Chief Conservation Officer of the CNP, Bed Kumar Dhakal.

Locals who had gone fishing in Rapt River informed the park officials after coming across the dead tiger. This is the second incident of death of a tiger since the last census in 2018.

The 2018 census showed that there were 93 tigers in CNP, according to information officer Gopal Ghimire.
