Rajbiraj, November 15

Locals of Saptari’s Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality staged a protest suspecting that the chairperson of the local body was attempting to transfer the chief administrative officer in bid to conceal irregularities.

The protest meeting held at the initiative of the locals of Tilathi Koiladi RM has sought annulment of the transfer of Chief Administrative Officer Rajiv Kumar Jha and probe into massive irregularities at the local body and action against those involved.

“As Jha, who was transferred here two months ago, tried to control irregularities taking place in the rural municipality, Chairperson Satish Kumar Singh and his group grew suspicious of him and tried to transfer him,” said the locals.

Today’s protest meeting was held under the chairmanship of the then Babhangamakatti VDC chairperson Jibachhalal Mandal. Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal district Vice-chair Niraj Mukti, Nepali Congress’s Arun Mandal and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Mukesh Yadav, among others, participated in the protest.

They have accused the RM chief of misappropriating some 56 million rupees and sought a fair probe.
