Time ripe for decisive fight for republican order: Nepal
Kathmandu, January 3:
CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today said the political parties are all set for a “final fight” to establish republican democracy, adding, there is no other alternative.
“The King has invited this situation. He has done so by blurring the line between democracy and autocracy,” the CPN-UML chieftain said at a programme organised here today by the Rastriya Jana Sanskritik Manch at the party office, Balkhu.
“All the affection for the palace is now gone as it has snatched away people’s rights,” the CPN-UML general secretary said.
Nepal came down heavily on the ruling establishment for trying to lengthen its tenure by purporting to fight against terrorism. “They (the ruling establishment) want violence to continue so that they can import arms and ammunition in the name of terrorism,” he said.
The CPN-UML strongman also criticised the government for provoking the Maoists to end the four-month-long ceasefire.
Reiterating the decision of the seven-party alliance to boycott the municipal elections, Nepal said that the active boycott of the elections would be the first step towards success. “The boycott will mark a new phase of the stir,” Nepal said.
