TMDP Chair Thakur extends aid
Birgunj: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chair Mahantha Thakur today extended financial support of Rs 5,000 to Mansi Patel, who had sustained injuries in the Tarai agitation, in Parsa, today.
Mansi had sustained injuries during the Madhesi forces’ agitation expressing dissatisfaction with the federal demarcation and the constitution.
Patel had received a bullet injury on his leg when police opened fire at Maisthan in Birgunj on September 20.
Following the incident, he was rushed to Birgunj-based Narayani sub-regional Hospital for treatment and was referred to Kathmandu for further treatment the same day.
However, he returned to Narayani Hospital for treatment. Due to financial crunch, he was unable to stay in the capital.
As the TMDP Chair Mahantha Thakur came to know about Patel’s abject poverty, he reached the health facility and offered Rs 5,000 cash. He had inquired about Patel’s health situation.
A critically injured Patel said that he wanted proper treatment instead of monetary support.
