GAUSHALA: A person was crushed to death by a tractor that was ploughing a field in Gaushala Municipality-11 of Mahottari district on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as local farmer Mahadev Yadav (70).

The tractor (Na 4 Ta 8344) ploughing the field in Lakshmaniya, ran over Yadav killing him on the spot yesterday evening, according to the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Yadav was sitting on the  vehicle and directing the driver while ploughing his field when he suddenly slipped and fell down, and came under the wheel,  Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuber Kathayat at the DPO said.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Jaleshwar-based District Hospital for postmortem, informed police.

Although, the vehicle has been impounded by the Kanti Bazaar-based Police Post, the search is on for the driver who fled the scene after the incident, said police.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is underway, informed police.
