BHOJPUR: A traffic police constable died and a pillion rider was severely injured after the hit of an unidentified truck in Shreepur-6 of Sunsari district along the  East-West Highway on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Pankaj Yadav, a traffic police constable deployed at the Eastern Regional Traffic Police Office, Itahari.

According to police, Yadav, who was riding on his motorcycle (Ko 5 Pa 7730) was severely injured after the hit of the unidentified truck heading towards West from East.

Yadav breathed his last while receiving treatment at Inaruwa-based District Hospital, informed police.

Meanwhile, Sanu Bhai Bhujel of Itahari-4, the pillion rider, was critically injured in the accident.

He is receiving treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institutes of Health Sciences.

Police are searching the involved truck and its driver.
