Traffic police intensify cross checking in Tanahaun

DAMAULI: Police in Tanahaun district have intensified cross checking on vehicles operating in the district as the complaints have been pouring regarding excessive fare hike by transport entrepreneurs.

According to Om Parkash Poudel, traffic police in-charge of the district, cross checking has been intensified in the district.

SP Krishna Kumar Mahat of the District Police Office in Tanahaun said police are acting on the increasing complaints regarding the fare hike made by transport entrepreneurs in the district.

He further added that police have launched a campaign to control the overloading of passengers and to prevent passengers from travelling on the roofs. Likewise, police have made it mandatory for motorcyclists to wear helmet while only a single pillion rider is allowed on two-wheelers.

He said police are obliged to maintain the law and order in the district during the festive season and a circular has been sent to all the police posts in the district for the end.

The official warned transport entrepreneurs not to overload and carry passengers on roofs of the buses.
