Traffic resumes in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Vehicular movement in the district, which came to a halt since yesterday due to the protests by activists of Young Communist League, resumed this evening.

The YCL cadres had obstructed the traffic protesting against the killing of its central committee member Laxman Yadav alias Himal. Yadav was shot dead by some unidentified persons on Saturday. An underground Tarai outfit -- Tarai Mukti Morcha -- had owned up to the murder.

Vehicles could not ply on roads after the protesters obstructed the Chandranigahpur section of the East West Highway since Saturday . Hundreds of passengers were stranded as the Maoists blocked the road by placing Yadhav's body.

"The traffic resumed after an agreement between the local administration and the Maoists to take action against those involved in the killing within two weeks," CDO, Dr Kamalesh Kumar Sinha, said. The UCPN-M district In-charge, Ashok Jaiswal, accused the government of killing innocent people.
