Transport services
Nuwakot, February 17:
Transport services came to a halt in Rasuwa for an indefinite period from yesterday due to an strike of the locals of Kalikasthan.
The locals obstructed transport services, demanding Rs 300,000 compensation to the family of Budha Ram Tamang, a resident of Dhaibung VDC-7, who was killed in a road mishap in Chitwan last Saturday. Two other persons were killed and eight injured in the accident.
After the locals’ protest, the Kathmandu-Trushuli-Dhunche Bus Entrepreneurs’ Committee itself shut bus services from today.
“The relatives of the deceased obstructed bus services demanding more compensation, so we also decided to close the services until an agreement is reached with the locals,” office secretary of the committee Hari Prasad Neupane said. “We are ready to pay the compensation as per the law,”
he said.
Three person, including Tamang, were killed when the bus carrying pilgrims collided with a tipper at Darechowk of Chitwan.
The transport strike has affected normal life here. Buses from Kathmandu and Nuwakot to Rasuwa didn’t ply today.
