Tree plantation drive in Dhangadi
Dhangadi, August 5
Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Nripa Bahadur Odd has started a tree plantation campaign in the sub-metropolis today.
Odd inaugurated the campaign by planting trees at Kailali Community Forest in the submetropolis-13. He said they would plant trees equal to the number of votes he secured in the civic polls.
Odd said his main motive behind the tree plantation campaign was to make Dhangadi a green and pollution-free city. “I launched the tree plantation drive to keep my election promise made to the people,” Odd added.
He also said they had planned to plant as many as 14,324 trees.
According to Odd, trees will be planted in community forest, temples, school premises, among other places. District Forest Office will provide the tree saplings for the campaign.
Odd said he was planning to introduce ‘one house, two trees’ policy in the sub-metropolis. He also appealed the city dwellers to support the greenery movement.
