TU-AFU row leaves forestry students in lurch
HETAUNDA: A conflict between the Tribhuvan University and the Agriculture and Forestry University led to cancellation of entrance examination of as many as 262 students in Hetaunda on Saturday.
The students had gathered at the Hetaunda Campus under the Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University to take the entrance examination of Bachelor's in Forestry.
But, police intervened in the examination and detained the TU IoF Dean Chiranjeevi Upadhyaya and the Campus Chief Yusuf Ansari for six hours.
Makawanpur Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya said police intervened in the examination following orders from the Ministry of Education.
The District Administration Office said the Ministry and the TU had already written to the Hetaunda Campus to cancel the examination.
The TU and the AFU for last few years have been involved in a conflict over properties in Hetaunda and Chitwan among other places.
The AFU has been claiming ownership over properties of agriculture and forestry campuses being run under the TU so far.
The TU IoF, however, has been denying to handover the properties.
Meanwhile, the examination was held peacefully in Pokhara and Kathmandu, according to the IoF.
