Two abductors shot dead

JANAKPURDHAM: Two kidnappers were killed in police action at Janakpur Municipality on Saturday night. A team of police personnel who had gone to rescue abducted businessman Rambilas Shah of Kanakpatti of Dhanusha, killed the kidnappers when they fired at the police team, SP Yadavraj Khanal said. One of the deceased has been identified as Udgar Mandal, 19, of Dhanusha VDC-4 while the other was yet to be identified. The arms and ammunition found from the incident site were made public by the police at a press conference organised here today. Shah was abducted by a gang of six persons while he was on his way to Janakpur from his village on May 19. According to SP Khanal, the kidnappers did not release Shah even after they were provided with the agreed ransom of Rs 50,000. He added that they had acted on the information provided by one of the arrested culprits involved in the abduction.

However, locals claimed that the police had shot the duo near Dudhmati River after arresting them.
