Two candidates from Naya Shakti Party join UML

Hetauda, November 26

Two candidates for Makawanpur Constituency No 1 from Naya Shakti Party-Nepal joined the CPN-UML at a programme organised in Hetauda, Makawanpur, today.

Prahlad Lamichhane had filed his candidacy to contest parliamentary polls from Constituency No 1 while Narayan Sapkota had filed his candidacy to contest the provincial polls in Constituency No 1 kha.

Organising a press meet in Hetauda today, the candidates announced that they had left Naya Shakti Party-Nepal and entered the UML. Poll candidates Lamichhane and Sapkota showed their dissatisfaction after Naya Shakti Party-Nepal decided to help Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Kamal Thapa in Makawanpur Constituency No 1 in return for RPP’s help to NSP-N in Gorkha Constituency No 1.

Lamichhane said that he had joined the UML as he was guided by leftist ideology. He said he was happy when Naya Shakti Party-Nepal sought to ally with the leftist force.

“But I was so sad at the same time when the party decided what I expected,” he added.
