Dutch trekker, Nepali guide killed in Manang avalanche

LAMJUNG: A Dutch national and a Nepali trekking guide who had gone missing from the Annapurna trekking route two weeks ago, have been found dead.

They lost their lives in an avalanche at Kyangdi in Nesyang Rural Municipality-1 of Manang district.

According to District Police Office, Manang, Dutch national Vincendjan Bloen (Passport no. NN164PCH5) and Ajay Dhakal (35) of Dhading district, a trekking guide had set on Annapurna circuit trek on February 21 through Pariwar Holidays Pvt Ltd.

Dhakal's body was retrieved from under the snow on Friday evening while Bloen's body was recovered on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred while they were descending after completion of the trek last Thursday.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Kathmandu in a helicopter for postmortem, said Police Inspector Shravan Kumar BK.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the proprietor of the travel company and further investigation into the incident is underway
