Two dead, three injured in separate accidents in Tanahun

Damauli, August 15

Two persons died and three sustained injuries in separate accidents in Tanahun today.

In Kamalbari of Byas Municipality-12, one person died after a motorbike heading towards Dumre from Damauli and a car coming from the opposite direction collided on the Prithvi Highway.

According to District Police Office Lilaraj Lamichhane, Thomas Basnet, 48, of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality-6, who was riding pillion on the bike, died in the accident. Critically injured Basnet died in the course of treatment at Pokhara’s Metro City Hospital.

Bike rider Umesh Khadka, 22, of Mulpani, Byas Municipality-12, was injured. He is being treated at Ratnahari Hospital.

Police have started investigation by detaining the car driver.

In another accident, a child died and his parents got injured when a jeep and a motorbike coming from opposite directions collided on a steep slope in Ghansikuwa of Byas Municipality-12.

The deceased has been identified as six-year-old Sunil Magar. Having received serious injuries on his head and different body parts, he died while being treated at Ratnahari Hospital of Damauli. His parents Min Prasad Kahar Magar, 30, and Susma Kahar Magar, 27, of Devadaha Municipality-5, Rupandehi were injured. They are undergoing treatment at Pokhara’s Metro City Hospital. The family of three was heading to Dumre from Damauli on the bike.

Police said they have started investigation by detaining the jeep driver.
