Two killed, two injured in separate Jhapa road accidents

SURUNGA, JHAPA: Two people were killed in two separate road accidents in Jhapa district on Sunday night.

A person died and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on met with an accident in Mechinagar Municipality-11 of Jhapa district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as local Buddhi Raj Limbu (17), who was the pillion rider of the motorcycle.

According to police, the incident occurred when the Me 1 Ta 4049 plated tractor collided head-on with the motorcycle (Me 2 Pa 1884) in the inner road section, killing Limbu on the spot.

The critically injured motorcyclist was rushed to Bhadrapur-based Om Sai Pathibhara Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, informed Police Inspector Rajesh Rai at the District Police Office, Jhapa.

Similarly, a 26-year-old youth was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident along the East-West Highway of Jhapa district yesterday.

According to police, Ganga Gurung of Ilam Municipality-3 in Ilam district was riding a motorcycle (Ba 2 Ba 1162) eastward at Jhiljhile road section, when it collided with an Indian registered motorcycle (UP 32 GU 4675), killing him on the spot and injuring his pillion rider.

Meanwhile, critically injured pillion rider Tika Gurung (18) has been undergoing treatment at the Birtamod-based B&C Hospital, informed the District Police Office, Jhapa.

Further investigations on both cases are undergoing, said police.
