Nine persons, including two District Education Officers (DEOs), were injured when a truck heading towards Biratnagar from Itahari and a jeep heading towards Itahari from

Biratnagar collided at Pipalchowk this morning. Both vehicles turned turtle after the collision.

Six persons in the jeep — Sunsari DEO Hira Prasad Dhakal, Taplejung DEO Khemnath Pokhrel, section officer of the Sunsari district education office, Raj Kumar Thapa, kharidar Gopal Prasad Dhakal, headmaster of Panchayat Secondary School at Duhabi Mahadeva Rauniyar and the jeep driver — were injured. Three persons in the truck — Hari Prasad Ganesh, Arati Ghosh and Barsha Ghosh of Taghandubba of Jhapa — were injured, police said, adding that teh Sunsari DEO Dhakal who was critically injured.
