RAJBIRAJ: Two persons died after the motorcycle they were riding on collided with another motorcycle along the Kathauna-Pato road section in Saptari district on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Dipesh Chaudhary (25) and Deepak Chaudhary (23) of Kavilasha in Dakneshwari Municipality-1 of Saptari district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the motorcycle (Sa 4 Pa 1219) en route from Kavilasha to Kathauna Bazaar was rear-ended by another motorcycle (Ba 24 Pa 2861), while trying to overtake, at around 10:00 pm yesterday.

It has been learnt that both two-wheelers were moving at a high speed.

Critically injured Chaudhary duo were rushed to the Lahan-based Saptarishi Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries around midnight during the course of treatment, according to the Kalyanpur-based Area Police Office.

The driver of the overtaking motorcycle has been identified as Gayanand Chaudhary (19) of Dakneshwari Municipality-3 in the district.

Meanwhile, the overtaking motorcycle has been impounded and its driver detained for further investigation, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhruva Kumar Shrestha, at the District Police Office, Saptari.
