Two elected representatives thrashed
Pokhara, January 26
CPN-Maoist Centre leader Devendra Poudel and Rastriya Janamorcha’s Tek Bahadur Ghartimagar are reported to have been thrashed by their own supporters.
Poudel was elected member of the Parliament from Baglung Constituency-2, while RJ’s Ghartimagar had won the election from the same constituency as a provincial assembly member.
As per reports, CPN-MC’s Tulsiram Aryal manhandled them at Burtigang bazaar-based Miraz Hotel of Dhorpatan Municipality-1 on Thursday night. Aryal is also said to have manhandled Poudel’s bodyguard. It is said that Aryal had played a crucial role in the victory of the two leaders.
While Aryal slapped Poudel twice for not informing him about a programme at Nisikhola yesterday afternoon, he had also punched Ghartimagar once. Some of the windows of the hotel were also broken in the incident.
On being asked if he had thrashed the two, Aryal admitted doing it. “I did everything to ensure their victory in the elections and now they totally ignore us, which simply was not fair,” he said. An influential political figure in his locality, Aryal had lost in the second Constituent Assembly election by a small margin. Aryal was recommended as a the CPN-MC’s candidate for the parliamentary election. However, the party chose Poudel, who had returned to the CPN-MC after quitting Naya Shakti Party-Nepal led by Baburam Bhattarai.
“He (Aryal) was drunk,” said Poudel, who, however, did not reveal if he was actually thrashed. “But this is not a big issue and I’m now returning to the headquarters,” he said. Meanwhile, it is also said that Poudel and Ghartimagar had reached Aryal’s residence this morning following yesterday night’s incident but couldn’t meet him.
