Sankhuwasabha, June 30:

Two women who beat up a Dalit woman for allegedly touching their water jars were asked to pay Rs 8,000 as fine today.

Sabitra Shrestha and Salija Shrestha of Sitalpati-4 thrashed Harka Maya BK, 43, for touching their jars on June 23.

A case was filed in the Sankhuwasabha District Police Office regarding the beating and Sabitra and Salija were subsequently arrested.

DPO today decided that BK be treated free and provided the stated amount as compensation, SP Surya Prasad Upadhayay said.
