Two fraudsters held

KHOTANG: Khotang police arrested two persons, including the proprietor of Namaste Nepal Multi-purposes Concern, on the charge of fraud in Diktel, on Tuesday. A police team deployed from District Police Office Khotang held proprietor Bhim Rai and cash collector Kaji Khatri on the basis of a complaint lodged by locals. DSP Bidhyananda Majhi said  the duo was held after the locals complained. Preliminary investigation shows that the accused had collected more than Rs 6 million from 710 locals, Rs 8,700 per head.

“A fraud case was filed against the accused on Wednesday,” said DSP Majhi. However, the accused have argued that they had collected the amount for lottery but they could not purchase the goods due to the ongoing closure. The duo had been collecting a large amount of money from the locals assuring them that they would different gift items including motorbike, camera, mobile, TV and watches, among other gifts.
