Two held for dealing in leopard skin, bones
Dadeldhura, January 22
Police today arrested two persons on the charge of dealing in endangered animal parts from Aalital VDC of Dadeldhura district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint police team deployed from Zonal Police Office, Seti and Area Police Office, Jogbudha seized the animal parts and an illegal gun from a house belonging to Damber Bahadur Karki of the VDC. The illegal items were hidden in a goat shed.
District Police Office, Dadeldhura said the police team led by sub-inspector Govinda Singh Bohora of Area Police Office, Jogbudha seized seven feet wide and six feet long skin and bones of a leopard and arrested Karki. Meanwhile, a joint police team deployed from Seti Zonal Police Office and Area Police Office, Budar led by sub-inspector Dil Bahadur Mahara also arrested Prem Bahadur Dangi of Ghanteshwor VDC, Doti on the basis of information given by Karki. Mahara informed that the police team had also seized an illegal gun from Dangi’s house.
SP Bipin Karmacharya of Dadeldhura Police Chief said that Karki and Dangi were preparing to sell the leopard skin and bones.
He informed that the duo arrested along with the seized materials was handed over to the District Forest Office, Dadeldhura for the further investigation today.
