Two held for forcibly taking children to

Kathmandu, April 15:

Police yesterday held Ajay Rajbanshi and Chandra Rajbanshi of Lalitpur on charges of forcefully taking away with them 10 children from the Matri Nepal Apanga Sangh at Bhatkekopul.

According to police, the duo had taken the children to the orphanage they owned at Jorpati. The idea was to show more children in their orphanage and attract more donations for their shelter home.

The police held the duo from Bulbule, Chabahil, while they were taking away with them Sabina Tamang, Pema Sherpa, Sindra Shahi, Mahendra Shahi and Lokjan Rokaya to the Suryodaya Anath Ashram at Jorpati.

“They were held while taking the children to the orphanage for the second time,” the police said, adding that they rescued five children — Hepa Tamang, Muskan Sherpa, Yehem Tamang, Ganesh Rokaya and Aashish Tamang — from the orphanage. The duo said the children volunteered to go with them as they were not given enough food and clothing at Matri Nepal.
