Two held for snow leaopard poaching

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: Police in Darchula district today made public two people who were arrested earlier on the charge of wildlife poaching.

The accused are Janak Bahadur Shahi (39) of Jubidha-8, Kalikot and Kalam Ram Parki (30) of Sunsera-2, Darchula.

They were detained for their involvement in the illegal killing of a snow leopard, listed as a threatened wildlife species.

Acting on the statement given by the two, police discovered a leopard hide measuring 6 foot 5 inches in length and the animal's bone weighing around five kilogrammes from a cave in the forest of Rapla.

Police are further investigating the case.

The accused have confessed the crime, police added.
