Two held with IRs 1.11mln in Jhapa

JHAPA: Armed Police Force arrested two men in possession of IRs 11,10,000 from Jhapa district in eastern Nepal on Friday afternoon.

According to DSP Rajesh Uprety, an APF team confiscated 295 banknotes in the denomination IRs 2000 and the rest in IRs 500.

The recently issued IRs 2,000 are not in legal tender in Nepal.

The two motorcycle-borne suspects, identified as 24-year-old Rabin Ghosh and 23-year-old Manoj Rajbanshi of Bhadrapur-6, had entered Nepal from Galgaliya of India, carrying the fortune.

They were arrested after the discovery of the money during a regular security check at Ghodamara in Bhadrapur-8, the APF informed.
