Two held with 59.5 kg of hashish in Hetauda
HETAUDA: Police said two persons were arrested in possession of 59.5-kilograms of hashish from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-10, on Thursday.
Subsequently, police made the alleged drug smugglers, Bhimsen Moktan, 20, and Roshan Lama, 26, both of them hailing from Kailash Rural Municipality-6 in Makwanpur district, pubic at the District Police Office, Makwanpur, in Hetauda today.
In one incident, a police team led by Police Inspector Pawan Kumar Jha intercepted a mini-truck (Ba 5 Kha 1825) heading to Birgunj from Palung of Makwanpur district, near bus park area of Hetauda-10 during regular security check and arrested Bhimsen Moktan and Roshan Lama.
Police also recovered 59.5 kilograms of hashish hidden under the driver's seat. The illegal drug was wrapped in eight plastic bags and hidden inside the driver's compartment.
It has been learned that the alleged drug smugglers were heading to the border area with the consignment with the intention of smuggling into India.
Likewise, in another incident, police recovered 53 kilograms of hashish wrapped in a plastic bag from a nearby paddy field at Newarpani Bichtole in Hetauda-19 today.
With this, police seized a haul of 112.5 kilograms of illegal drugs from assorted locations in the metropolis today, police said.
According to DPO Chief and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh, alleged drug smugglers have been using various routes and methods to smuggle drugs of late.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, SP Singh added.
