Two held with 70 tola gold from Siraha

LAHAN: Two youth were arrested in possession of 70 tola undeclared gold from Siraha Municipality of Siraha district on Wednesday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team deployed from the Siraha District Police Office arrested Tamanna Daphali (21) and Mohammad Israel Daphali (22), permanent residents of Saraswar, Siraha-10.

They were caught from the local Bhaluwahi Chok of Siraha-11.

The duo, travelling on a motorcycle (Sa 6 Pa 6324), had possessed seven gold bars weighing 10 tola each, police said.

The seized yellow metal is worth around Rs 3.85 million in the Nepali market.

The DPO spokesperson DSP Ek Narayan Koirala said police also seized Rs 34,800 cash and two Samsung mobile sets from them.

Further investigation is underway.
