Two held with red panda hides from Jhapa
JHAPA: The personnel from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and the Area Police Office, Birtamode, have arrested two people in possession with two raw hides of red panda, an endangered species.
The arrestees have been identified as Suk Bir Rai of Phalincha VDC-9 in Panchthar and Kamal Kumar Mangmu of Sadeba VDC-4 in Taplejunj.
The police on Sunday made public the arrested duo and submitted them to the District Forest Office, Jhapa, for further actions.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dibesh Lohani said that Rai and Mangmu were arrested based on a tip off that the smugglers were planning to supply the red panda hides to the capital city.
