Two Indian nationals shot at

Two Indian nationals were shot at in Bhimdatta Municipality, Kanchanpur, yesterday.

The injured have been identified as Jagat Singh Chauhan, 50, and Chandra Kishor Singh, 52, of Banbasa, India.

The injured were working on the construction of Sarada Barrage in Banbasa. Chauhan was hit by a bullet in his arms while Singh received a bullet in his back. The injured duo was rushed to India for treatment immediately after the incident. The condition of Chauhan is said to be critical.

District Police Office, Kanchanpur, stated that the Indian nationals were shot at by Nepali citizens while they were returning to their houses from a casino in Bhimdattanagar at around 9:00pm yesterday. Police said that the Indian nationals were on a motorcycle while a bike-borne group started following them and shot at them.

DIG Sarad Chand, chief of Far-western Regional Police, said police arrested two Nepali citizens had been arrested for their involvement in the case. They were found in possession of home-made pistol. The arrested have been identified as Bikram Nath, 21, and Karan Bhandari, 18, of Bhujela, Kanchanpur. The arrested have been kept at District Police Office, Kanchanpur, said police.
