Two Indian trekkers stranded due to heavy snowfall in Mustang have been rescued safely by a joint team of Nepal Army and Nepal Police.

The trekkers-29-year-old Phanik Tony and 30-year-old Mitra Bindu from Kerala, India-were en route to Mustang from Manang when they lost the trail at Chisapani in Baragung Muktichhetra-2 following snowfall in the Muktinath and Thorong La Pass area on Wednesday.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Dhoj Khand, the rescue team located them at Drum Camp, a lower section of the Thorong Pass, and brought them to safety on Wednesday night.

Police said the rescue operation was launched after one of the trekkers contacted the District Police Office, Mustang, seeking help.
