KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 16
Two people lost their lives, and 12 others were injured in a road accident near Chuakhola Boxkating of Lamahi Municipality-9 along the East-West Highway this morning.
The accident occurred when a winger van (Lu 1 Ja 4298), traveling to Bardiya from Chandrauta of Kapilvastu, lost control and skidded off the road.
The deceased have been identified as Prithi Tharu (42), and Phulsi Tharu (60) of Shivaraj Municipality-3.
The injured passengers were rushed to Lamahi Hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. It has been learnt that the vehicle was carrying 14 people at the time of the accident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding may have caused the crash, according to police.
