KATHMANDU, JULY 24
Two elderly passengers died and 15 others were injured when a jeep skidded off a gravel road in Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Bija Rokaya, 76, and Bacha Rokaya, 75, of Kyudi village, according to the District Police Office, Bajura.
According to the police, the accident occurred when the jeep (Ba Pra 03-001 Ja 0338), en route to ward 5 from Kyudi, lost control on a rough road. The vehicle was reportedly carrying locals heading to renew their social security allowance.
A rescue team and ambulance have been dispatched to the site, the rural municipality said.
An investigation into the incident is underway, police added.
