Two killed, 20 hurt in mishaps
Rajbiraj, May 9:
Two persons were killed and 20 injured in three separate road mishaps in Saptari district today, police said.
Laxmi Ram, 40, of Malhaniya village development committee died on the spot when a passenger bus hit the bicycle he was riding on at Kadebona on the Mahendra Highway, according to the Saptari District Police Office.
Fifteen persons, including seven children, were injured when a school bus met with an accident at Hardiya village development committee-5.
The condition of five injured children is reported to be critical. The occurred when the bus carrying students of the Lahan-based Paragon Public School rammed into a tree on the road, police said.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Lahan Hospital, police said. In another accident, a person was killed and five persons were injured when a passenger bus met with an
accident at Maletha village development committee, police said.
The mishap occurred when the bus driver tried to avoid hitting a bicycle rider, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Shyam Majhi, a native of Itaharawa village development committee. The five injured persons are undergoing treatment at the Rajbiraj-based Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital.
