Two killed, 21 hurt in bus accident

Dhangadi, August 21

At least two persons died on the spot and 21 were injured after a bus met with an accident at Khanidanda of Chure Rural Municipality in Kailali today.

The deceased have been identified as Nar Bahadur Deuba, 70, of Jorayal Rural Municipality, Doti and Durga Devi Malla, 48, of Joshipur Rural Municipality, Kailali.

Police said that the bus, which was heading towards BP Nagar of Doti from Dhangadi, fell some 150 metres below the road.

According to DSP Bir Bahadur Budha Magar in District Police Office, Kailali, of the injured, 20 are receiving treatment in Attariya-based Padma Hospital while one critically injured person has been taken to Haldwani of India for further treatment.

As many as 25 passengers were travelling in the bus.

Meanwhile, the driver, Tej Bahadur Malla and his helper of Badrikedar Rural Municipality, Doti, have received minor injuries in the accident. Police took the driver under control and kept him in the DPO. Further investigation into the accident is under way, said police.
