Two killed, 42 injured in mishaps

Dhading/Sarlahi, November 9:

Three persons died and 42 were injured in separate mishaps today.

A bus collided with a truck at Jawangkhola VDC in Dhading, resulting in the death of two persons. Twelve persons were injured in the accident.

“One passenger died on the spot and another died en route to hospital,” the police said, adding, “Four passengers, who were critically injured, have been taken to Kathmandu for treatment.”

Twenty-six persons, including DSP at the Dhanusha Police Office, Dhruva Raj Raut, were injured when a bus bound for Pokhara from Janakpur met with an accident at Hariwan in Sarlahi.

The police said the mishap occurred near the Chapini Bridge. The injured DSP has been sent to Bharatpur for treatment. Police inspector at the Sarlahi Bhaktipur Area Police Office Beni Silwal and sub-inspector of the Mahottari District Police Office Ajaya Yadav were also injured in the incident.

Employee of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s office in Pokhara Bharat Prasad Shah, Ram Bharosa Shah of the Land Survey Office Kaski, driver Ganga KC of Bharatpur, and helpers Bisak Dhungana of Nawalparasi’s Gaindakot and Dil Bahadur Basnet were among the injured. They are undergoing treatment at the Namuna Hospital. Rest of the injured have been sent to the Narayani sub-regional hospital in Birgunj. According to bus conductor Bikas Dhungana, 60 passengers were on board the bus.

In another incident, Bhim Bahadur Darji of Damak 13, of Jhapa district died near Dharkebazaar

of Naubise VDC 1 along the Prithvi highway when a bus hit him. Darji was hit when he had disembarked from a bus to have dinner.

Meanwhile, four persons were injured in two separate incidents in Rupandehi. Bishal Basnet and Dinesh Gyawali were hurt when a truck hit their cycle in Murgiya. The truck was heading to Nepalgunj from Butwal. Krishna Pokharel and Keshab Pokhrel of Parroha were injured when a jeep hit the motorcycle they were riding on in Jhargaira.
