ITAHARi: Two persons were killed when a motorcycle was hit by a truck at Tarahara of the district, on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Diwas Rai (25) and Iro Bantawa (23) of Dharan, informed the Eastern Regional Traffic Police Office in Itahari.

According to police, the motorcycle (Ba 50 Pa 3501) heading towards Dharan was hit by the truck (Ko 1 Kha 558) from the opposite direction yesterday.

Motorcyclist Raju Magar was severely injured in the incident. He is being treated at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, police added.

Police have impounded the truck and arrested its driver for further investigation.
