Two killed in Jogbani firing

Biratnagar, October 15:

Two persons were killed and one sustained bullet injury when a robber, who was absconding after attempting to rob a person in Jogbani, opened fired at them in Jogbani railway station today.

Basanta Choudhary of Jogbani shot Manoj Mandal, who used to exchange small denominations of money, for his living. Choudhary also opened fire at Magante Majalum Miya when the latter tried to get hold of him following the firing at Mandal. Mandal and Miya died on the spot, an Indian police official said, adding that all three were Indian nationals.

Chaudhary also opened fire at Indian police personnel Rameshwor Yadav when the latter tried to apprehend him. Yadav is undergoing treatment in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

Meanwhile, Inspector Mahendra Thapa of Morang District Police Office said Indian police nabbed Chaudhary with the help of Nepal Police from Jogbani’s Thakurwari road when he was trying to enter Nepal.
