SARLAHI, MAY 21
Two people lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle collision at Jirayat Bazaar of Bagmati Municipality-4 in Sarlahi, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, the accident occurred when a motorcycle (Pr.3–02–006P 7868), heading from Putali Chowk toward Solti Bazaar, collided head-on with another motorcycle (Ba 56 P 526) coming from the opposite direction at around 4:00pm on an inner road of Jirayat Bazaar. Both riders died on impact.
One of the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Bibek Manandhar of Basantapur in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-23. He sustained serious injuries and was being taken to Birgunj for treatment. However, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was declared dead by doctors at Chandranigahapur Private Hospital at 4:30 pm.
The second deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Nagendra Sah Sonar of Bishunpura village, Madhav Narayan Municipality, Rautahat. He suffered injuries to his arm and other parts of his body. Despite efforts to take him to Birgunj for treatment, he too was pronounced dead at Chandranigahapur Hospital at 4:30 pm, said DSP Saroj Rai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
The bodies of both victims have been kept at Chandranigahapur Hospital.
Also injured in the accident were 34-year-old Muni Devi Sah Sonar, a resident of Bakuliya, Bihar, India, who was riding pillion, and 32-year-old Chanchal Devi Sah, the wife of the deceased Nagendra Sah Sonar. Both sustained multiple injuries and were referred to Birgunj after initial treatment at Bagmati Model Hospital in Hariban.
Police said that an investigation into the incident is underway.
According to locals, the Sonar family, who are residents of Bishunpura, Rautahat, were returning from a visit to Bharat Tal when the accident occurred.
