RAJBIRAJ, MAY 11
Two persons were killed after the cycle they were travelling on was hit by a truck in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-3 of Saptari district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as locals Satyanarayan Mandal (45) and his wife Sunita Devi Mandal (40).
According to police, the incident occurred when the truck (Na 6 Kha 861) hit the cycle the couple was riding on, in Portaha, along the East-West Highway, critically injuring the duo.
They succumbed to their injuries on the way to Bhardaha-based hospital, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhav Prasad Kafle, at District Police Office, Saptari.
Bodies of the deceased have been sent to Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for postmortem, informed Saptari DPO. Meanwhile, police have detained the driver and impounded the vehicle for further investigation into the case, added DSP Kafle.
