Two people died and nine others were injured when a jeep crashed at Deuta Khola in Sanibheri Rural Municipality-6, Rukum West, on Sunday morning.
The jeep, registration number Lu 1 Cha 6029, was travelling from Kotgaun in Ward No 6 towards Khalanga via Simli, the rural municipality's centre, when the accident occurred.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Poudel of the District Police Office, the jeep driver and a woman died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been established.
Police said 11 people were travelling in the jeep. Four of the injured are in serious condition, while five others sustained moderate injuries. A police team led by Poudel reached the accident site shortly after the incident for further assessment.
Sanibheri Rural Municipality Chairman Birkha Bahadur Bista said a Nepal Army helicopter had been requested to evacuate the injured, with the local government agreeing to bear the cost.
